The brutal 2016 murder of 10-year-old Victoria Martens left more questions than answers

The story of Victoria Martens’ brutal murder in Albuquerque, New Mexico is nothing short of a complete tragedy. The 10-year-old girl was killed, dismembered and set on fire in August 2016. Her mother, Michelle Martens, her mother’s boyfriend, Fabian Gonzalez and his cousin, Jessica Kelley, were all arrested and charged in connection with the murder.

For over a year, investigators used Michelle Martens’ version of events on the night of her daughter’s death before additional evidence showed that Michelle Martens’ gave a false confession. Simply put, police were following the wrong leads and it led to a dead end.

With Martens, Kelley and Gonzalez all telling different stories and time stretching on, Victoria’s murder remains an open case and her killer has not yet been brought to justice.
